sips – Mac OS X CLI Image Manipulation Tool

I wonder how long sips (scriptable image processing system) has been around in Mac OS X? If you’re the type who has a terminal window open all the time any way (or a dozen of them) then this is a really handy tool for image manipulation.

It looks like sips has been around since OS X v10.4 judging by the online man page (you can view different versions of the man page and it goes back to 10.4).
